Portland Water Tower Bumper Sticker

Portland, Oregon's skyline is best known for its dramatic views of Mt. Hood and Helens.

But real locals eyes catch on something very different in the skies. These landmarks are much more dangerous: the water tower. The Portland Water Bureau estimates that are at least 53 of these obelisks looming over homes across the city.

No one knows who built these towers, nor what their true purpose. We're left to speculate on why something so out in the open, is shrouded in such darkness. Isn't it ironic?
